The Client

A global Big 4 consulting company’s Singapore office, that provides audit, tax and advisory services, working closely with clients in SE Asia, helping them to mitigate risks and grasp opportunities.

Challenge

Preparation and deployment of new assets was completely manual process, managed on excel and prone to error. Asset loan, lost and damaged asset recovery processes were also manual and dependent on email-based approvals and no visibility of due dates.

Solution

Using ServiceNow® IT Asset management capabilities, we implemented end to end asset lifecycle, from new asset allocation, to transfers, loans, re-assignments, maintenance and retirement. We designed the CMDB Class structure, mapping of CMDB to Assets and auto – update rules for synchronization between CMDB and Asset data.

Accomplishments

The CMDB Class Structure, Product and Asset Models, and model categories were finalized and uploaded. Import templates were created for asset data types such as computers, end-user devices, communication devices, peripherals, software packages, and consumables, with a data upload utility provided for ongoing maintenance. Service catalog requests and workflows for asset management processes, including hardware/software purchases, asset repair, damage/loss reporting, hardware loans, clearance, assignment acknowledgments, and configuration item creation, were delivered. Additionally, asset management reports for asset aging, warranty reminders, and depreciation calculations were generated.
